Having never been to Sephora, I planned to dash into the store for a quick preview before posting this Valentine Sephora Gift Card Giveaway

Instead, I found myself perusing the cosmetic aisles with my eyes all a twinkling. My 4th grade daughter looked just as mesmerized. She ogled neon eye shadows. I tested long-lasting lipsticks. Together, we caught a whiff of Amazing Grace and followed the delicious scent back to the fragrance section.

I haven’t worn perfume since realizing my signature scent masked the new baby smell on this very girl now by my side. We decided that Mom, after nearly a decade, could smell like something other than peanut butter and Lady Speed Stick for a change. I like the smell of Amazing Grace. I love the quote on the packaging even more. So I bought a bottle for me and one to share.

For Valentine’s Day, we’re giving away a $35 gift card to Sephora, a .5 oz. Amazing Grace spray fragrance, and a Sephora compact mirror (their gift card freebie), with one of Brooke’s most popular prints, “Love in red.”

Two ways to enter. (Yes, you can do both and get two entries in the drawing):

  1. Sign up to receive blog posts and announcements via e-mail.
    Enter your email address:
  2. Finish this sentence in your post. “The best Valentine I ever received…”

Legal Stuff: Contest open to continental US residents only. Contest ends February 14, 2010 at midnight PST. Winner announced February 15, 2010.

The best Valentine I ever received were three little turtles I named Charlie, Booster and Speedy. My father picked these turtles out special for me because he knew how much I wanted a pet and my sister is allergic to just about everything. I was daddy’s little girl, was only about 8 year’s old at the time, and he wanted to give me something just as special as a dog, which is what I had origiinally wanted. No Valentine gift could ever compare to this very special one that truly came from my father’s heart.

The best valentine I have ever received is a giant balloon with a teddy bear and candy inside, from my husband (boyfriend at the time). We had seen them in Walmart around Valentines day and I made the comment that I had always wanted one in elementary school but never received one and was always crushed. He surprised me that year by giving me just the one I wanted. So sweet and thoughtful!

The best Valentine gift I ever received is one I actually haven’t received yet but am anticipating (maybe stupidly, but I’ve got my fingers crossed!) for this Valentine’s Day/our 5 year anniversary (not on the same date but really near each other) and that is a certain piece of jewelry (if you know what I mean) so this gift card and perfume could go towards making me look and smell great on the big day!

  196. Megan says:

The best Valentine I ever received was from my boyfriend. This boy who at first glance has not a single romantic bone in his body, and I have to drag and beg for date nights, gave me a handwritten card. Inside he poured his heart out and left me in tears. Amazing.

  202. Paige says:

The best Valentine I ever received was my high school boyfriend (and now my husband) leaving a trail of tulips from my house to a nearby park. There he stood, dressed in an army uniform, holding a dozen roses beside the picnic he set up for me. That was our first Valentine’s Day. Things have become decidedly less romantic 10 years later…

  203. Natalie says:

…waking up Valentine’s Day morning to a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks and Chick-fil-A breakfast! My husband clearly knows that food is definitely the way to my heart :)

The best Valentine I ever received was a package containing a dozen Jones Sodas in red, pink, and purple colors with sweet and romantic photos on them. Better than a dozen flowers because they lasted longer!

  210. Sarah says:

The best Valentine I ever received was a cute teddy bear holding a heart that says “I love you” from my mom. She gave it to me for Valentine’s Day during my first year of college, which was one of the most difficult years of my life. I don’t know if I ever received a gift that meant so much to me!

  211. Christine aka The Stampin' Ninja says:

The best Valentine I ever received… was a gorgeous vase of flowers that were delivered to me at work from my very “penny wise” husband. He doesn’t like to do things like that because he feels like he has to spend way too much (not that I’m not worth it but instead because he feels that companies profit too greatly from Hallmark holidays). However, because he knew it would mean the world to me he had flowers delivered “his way” – he ordered the arrangement from Safeway and then had my sister deliver them to the front desk of my office! Best part was that he had them delivered on a Monday even though Valentines Day was on a Thursday so that I could enjoy them longer (and they would get more “individual attention” :0) He truly is the GREATEST man I could ever hope for!

  212. Ashley says:

The best Valentine I ever received was a lot of flowers from “a secret admirer” :)

  213. chelsea says:

The best valentine I ever received was a handwritten note from my husband and a thoughtfully picked out cookbook. He’s a keeper.

  214. Jessica says:

The best Valentine’s I ever received was a handmade card from my husband promising to give me an hour-long massage. I am a massage therapist and had given him several hours of massage over the years. He wanted to return the favor. The reason that it was the best Valentine’s day gift was because of all the time he put into trying to make it sweet and professional. The focus was on me but not for any *ahem* alterior motives. He set up the table and did a quick “fake” intake and after 30 mintues of massage said his hands hurt so he gave me a gift card for full day at the spa. It was funny and sweet.

  215. This gift wasn’t for Valentine’s Day, but it was very romantic. For our 7th wedding anniversary, my husband illustrated with sidewalk chalk different images depicting the number 7. One image per section of the sidewalk leading up to our front door; dice that rolled 7, a woman’s legs crossed, a clock reading 7 o’clock, a roman numeral 7 etc. We’ve been married almost 23 years and I still smile each time I think of that gift.

  216. Heather d. says:

Best Valentine I ever received was a romantic candle light dinner made by my sweet hubby…carne asada…yummy!

  219. The best Valentine I ever received was a huge, cuddly teddy bear from my lovely beau. It was incredibly big and he gave it to me on our first Valentine’s Day ever. Especially sweet given the fact that we were apart & it gave me something to cuddle with at night!
